When trying to install cataclysm i get a message saying The installer does not need to be applied. It requires a version of 'World of Warcraft.app' older than 5.0.0.0, but you already have version 5.1.0.16357.

How exactly are you trying to install the game? Are you using the Cataclysm DVDs or using a freshly downloaded Battle.net downloader client?

I am using a brand new cd right out of the box. i am sure its a simple fix but this is my first mac

Tricone, if you already have installer 5.1.0.16357 then you are fully up to date (I just checked my build numbers). You're good to go.
Falithil, if you are not the original poster, which DVD are you using to install the game?

well, i think i just figured it out. im an idiot lol. i was trying to install cataclysm because i didn't think it was included in the battle chest and my account said i was only up to wotlk. i put in mists of pandaria and it is down loading. thank you for your help and ill try not to make this mistake again:)

No worries :)
However, if your account says you are only up to WOTLK, you need to enter a Cataclysm license key. This can be done on your Battle.net Account Management page. The game client will fully download to the latest patch even if you are only at the 'Vanilla' WoW level - you simply won't be able to enter those game areas designated for whatever expansion you have not yet paid for.
The Battle Chest includes the following games: WoW, WoW: Burning Crusade, WoW: Wrath of the Lich King. Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria are still separate purchases, and if you've purchased Mists of Pandaria, but not Cataclysm, your account may still have issues, so make sure you have purchased and entered license keys for all five game expansion tiers.

im not sure why but i have downloaded the battlechest and i bought cataclyism expansion and i downloaded it completely but when i went into my log in screen for my characters it says i still have to upgrade to cataclyism
can anyone help?????

Did you check your World of Warcraft license in Battle.net Account Management to ensure you have Cataclysm applied?

Hi. I bbought wow battle chest,i couldn`t fly with my mount,i downloaded mists of pandaria and still can`t fly...if i download cataclysm will work or i have to buy the cataclysm?
