Troubleshooting Motherboard Problems
- Check whether the computer powers on. If it powers on, can you see the red light on the front panel, flash or flicker? Also check whether you are able to eject the CD / DVD drive tray. If the computer is dead and shows no signs of power, you should try out the power supply troubleshooting first.
- If the computer powers on, does it freeze up before the operating system loads? To check if it's frozen, press the Numlock/Capslock keys on the keyboard. The Numlock/Capslock lights should go on and off when you press the keys.
- If the computer freezes at anytime before loading the operating system, check if it freezes with the minimum parts. Remove power to any drives and remove any add-on cards except the video card. If your motherboard has in-built video, use that. Disconnect everything else. Now check whether the computer powers up this way with the minimum devices?
- Remove the RAM from the motherboard and re-insert it. If the RAM and the RAM slot are dusty, clean them with a brush or a hand blower. If your computer has more than one RAM, use one at a time to check if the computer powers up. Also try interchanging the RAM, i.e., put them in different slots. If you have another RAM or can get it from another computer, try using the other RAM. Make sure that the RAM is inserted properly.
- If the computer freezes, even after you changed the RAM, you should check the BIOS settings and load the default BIOS values. This is done by entering the
BIOS / CMOS setup.
To enter the BIOS, you have to press the F1, F2, F10 or the DEL key during the computer start-up (i.e., the time when the computer shows the startup or boot messages). Generally, the message to press the F1, F2, F10 or the DEL key is also displayed near the bottom or top corner of the screen. If there’s no such message or if your computer shows a logo screen (like Intel Inside), check your motherboard manual on how to enter the BIOS / CMOS setup. - If your computer freezes even when you are in the BIOS setup, or if it doesn't allow you to go into the BIOS setup, and freezes, you should first try the power supply troubleshooting. You can check your motherboard manual for more information on how to enter the BIOS setup, if you can't see any such message.
- Check whether the processor's heatsink is tightly fit to the processor and whether the fan is connected to the motherboard and working at a good speed. If the fan isn't working or working at a slow speed, this may cause the computer to not power on.
- If the computer still won't power up, you should take the motherboard (with the processor, heatsink and RAM), the power supply and the video card (if having a separate video card), out of the computer case and try to power it up on the bench.
If it powers up out of the case, there may be a problem with the power button, there's some kind of short circuit in the case, or some kind of misalignment between the motherboard and the case. This is causing the motherboard not to power up inside the case. Inspect the case carefully to remove the short. A screw may be struck somewhere, causing a short. Also, try cleaning the computer case with a vacuum cleaner or a hand air blower, if it's dusty or dirty. - If the board doesn't power up even outside the case, first make sure that the power supply is a good one, then if you have or can get another processor, try by replacing the processor. If the board boots with the other processor, replace the processor. Don't forget to install the heatsink and the fan properly.
- If the board still doesn't power up, it's very possible that the motherboard is faulty and you should try replacing it.
- If this is a newly assembled computer, you should check the motherboard manual whether the RAM you are using, is supported by the motherboard.
New Version Of Windows? No Problem!
Upgrade smoothly by finding the correct drivers for your Server E7500 Chipset motherboard for Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. For the first time, users can upgrade with confidence knowing that their computer will run smoothly thanks to the latest drivers and updates required for a perfect upgrade.
Why Updating Drivers Is Important
Usually the only reason we look to install or update drivers is because something is malfunctioning. This is not the only reason you should keep your drivers up to date however. Intel is constantly tuning and improving performance of their Server E7500 Chipset motherboards and the only way to make use of this is by having the latest drivers. Going online and checking for new drivers all the time can be frustrating and is not an effective use of your time, and a simple tool like the driver installer above can keep all of your hardware running on the optimal drivers with top performance.
Sometimes when new hardware is installed, although it works correctly, other hardware which interacts with it may not be, because the other hardware actually needs its own drivers updated. This kind of co-dependency is another common problem and a reason why it's a great idea to have a tool that is constantly monitoring the state of all of your drivers and updating appropriately so you can upgrade and add or remove components in your computer while continuing to run without a hitch.
When your Server motherboard is relatively new, it may be possible to download individual drivers directly from Intel without incurring additional charges. If you are having problems locating the correct drivers for your Motherboard motherboard, or are unsure of the exact model, we suggest you run a system Server scan first. It's very important you know the exact model of your Intel Server E7500 Chipset motherboard you would like to update to ensure that it will function properly and to prevent possible damage to your system. Click here to download an installer that will automatically scan and identify your Intel to make sure you are installing the correct update and will also locate and download any additional driver and bios updates your pc may need.
